Scenarios

Based on user research and interviews, several scenarios were created to inform design decisions. Research participants included emergency response volunteers, survivors, and government employees (First Responders, FEMA, Homeland Security, etc.).

Wireflows

Hover over the embedded image to reveal Lucid Charts controls. This chart can be manipulated on page, enlarged to full screen, or opened with Lucid Charts. Plan, Evade, Regroup, and Beacon flows are presented in the context of use in a disaster scenario. Having an app available on smart devices that incorporates technologies to assist in staying as safe, informed, and together with a team/family members during a disaster is the over-arching goal of these flows.

Design System

This Figma embed is linked to the design system that was chosen to build the prototypes below.

Navigate to Team View

Drilling into team member attributes from the dashboard view (iPad). These videos demonstrate (medium-fidelity) functionality more pertinent to response team leadership than individual team members or those impacted by disaster (survivors). The goal is to provide an interface that allows the user to see what resources are available, who is on scene, and how long they have been actively responding to mitigate burnout and enhance personnel safety.

Drill Into Team Data

Searching for a team member within teams view (iPad).

Assign Member to Another Team

Assigning a team member to a new team by dragging from one to the other in team view.

Send Alert to Regroup

Send a beacon alert to select team members to regroup at a designated rally point.
